Saeed Hasanzadeh (born 1981, Kurdistan-bokan ) holds an MA in Painting from the University of Art, Tehran. The artist’s sociocultural milieu exerts a determinative influence on artistic subjectivity formation. An authentic practitioner is epistemologically precluded from suppressing moral conscience, engaging in discursive self-censorship, deliberately occluding observational faculties, or articulating affectively inauthentic experiences—irrespective of framing happiness as an ontological human value. Consequently, engagement with societal catastrophe necessitates confronting human tragedy as a non-negotiable ethical praxis transcending aesthetic detachment.
Every painter and artist, regardless of their style or school of thought, is influenced not only by the social, political, cultural, and environmental context in which they live, but also by a deeper and more enchanting source — the spirit of their identity and place.
The geopolitical reality of Kurdistan, where I live, and the social issues surrounding it, viewed through a critical lens, have been the tangible manifestations of my concerns. These realities, whether consciously or unconsciously, have shaped the background and subconscious layers of my visual and intellectual memory.
Through these influences, my artistic journey has evolved into a process of curiosity and experimentation in both space and technique. Themes such as the genocide of the Kurdish people under totalitarian regimes, and the aesthetics of Kurdistan through a contemporary lens, have been guiding forces in the development of my work.
